Gyprockers across the Illawarra, the Shoalhaven and the Southern Highlands
We sheet, set and repair plasterboard walls and ceilings across the regions below. Each one carries a paragraph on what the housing there is actually like, because that is what decides the work. Under them, every suburb with enough local detail worth writing down has a page of its own. If you only want to know whether we come to you, the region lists are the quick answer.
The Northern Illawarra
Six of these seven towns started as coal settlements, and the miners' cottages are still there under later additions. The escarpment comes down close to the sea here, so the strip is narrow. Two houses four streets apart can sit in salt air or well back from it. February is the wettest and most humid month of the year, and the month when everything takes longest to dry.
Suburbs include: Helensburgh, Stanwell Park, Coalcliff, Scarborough, Austinmer, Thirroul, Bulli, Woonona, Russell Vale, Corrimal, Towradgi, Balgownie and Fairy Meadow
Wollongong and Dapto
Nothing is true of all of this group, and that is the honest thing to say about it. The city itself is mostly apartments, Port Kembla has barely grown in seventy five years, and west Dapto is still being built. A house here can be a workers cottage, a 1960s brick veneer or three years old. Where the ground rises toward the escarpment the rain and the drying times change with it.
Suburbs include: Wollongong, North Wollongong, West Wollongong, Coniston, Mangerton, Figtree, Cordeaux Heights, Mount Keira, Unanderra, Berkeley, Port Kembla, Warrawong, Kanahooka, Horsley, Koonawarra and Dapto
Shellharbour and Kiama
Shellharbour village was settled in the 1840s, and Warilla and Mount Warrigal went up as whole subdivisions in the 1950s and 1960s. Flinders and Shell Cove were farmland until the 1990s, and Shell Cove is still being finished. The lake sits in the middle of it and the ocean is on the other side, so exposure changes street by street. Inland at Albion Park the mornings are genuinely cold, which is not true of anywhere else on this coast.
Suburbs include: Albion Park, Albion Park Rail, Oak Flats, Lake Illawarra, Mount Warrigal, Barrack Heights, Warilla, Flinders, Shell Cove, Shellharbour, Blackbutt, Minnamurra, Kiama Downs and Kiama
The Shoalhaven
The Shoalhaven divides in two, and the two halves are not much alike. Nowra, Bomaderry and Worrigee sit inland on the river, where the town was built up the hill after the flood of 1870. Vincentia and St Georges Basin sit on Jervis Bay, where far more houses stood empty on census night than on the coast further north. Inland is also the only part of this coast that records both frost and days over forty.
Suburbs include: Nowra, North Nowra, South Nowra, Bomaderry, Worrigee, Sanctuary Point, St Georges Basin, Vincentia and Huskisson
The Southern Highlands
Every other region here is within sight of the sea. The Highlands are about six hundred and fifty metres up, behind the escarpment, and the difference shows in the mornings. The region's weather station records nights at or below freezing in eight months of the year, and the coast records none at all. It is also the driest ground in the service area, and it holds more heritage listings than any other council here.
Suburbs include: Mittagong, Bowral, Burradoo, Moss Vale, Berrima and Renwick

Questions about where we work
What if my suburb is not listed here?
Ring and ask, because the pages below are not the whole of the service area. Each region block above names suburbs that have no page of their own, and those are covered the same as the ones that do. Stanwell Park, Austinmer, Warrawong, Minnamurra, Huskisson and Berrima are all in that group. A page exists where there was enough local detail worth writing down, not where the work is. If you are near one of these and unsure, the answer is usually yes.
Do you really cover all of these suburbs?
Yes. The service area runs from the northern villages under the escarpment down through Wollongong and Shellharbour to the Shoalhaven. It reaches inland to the Southern Highlands behind the escarpment as well. It is a long way end to end, and that is the point of listing it honestly rather than claiming a whole state. We turn work down for what it is rather than for where it is. If a job sits in one of the regions above, it is a job we quote.
Does where I live change the price?
No. There is no travel charge anywhere in the service area, so a job at Nowra is priced the same way as one in Wollongong. What moves a price is the work rather than the postcode. The size of the room, the height of the ceiling, the number of corners and what is already on the wall all count. Two houses in the same street can quote differently for that reason. None of that is about which suburb you are in.
Why does each suburb have its own page?
Because the work changes with the housing, and the housing changes suburb by suburb. A weatherboard cottage under the escarpment and a brick veneer estate house from the sixties are two different jobs. A build only a few years old at west Dapto is a third. Salt, humidity, frost and the era of the framing all move what we do and how long it takes. Writing one page and swapping the suburb name in would tell you nothing you could use.
